A quick one this week. Two songs came into my possession simultaneously and somehow they seem strangely related, if not on opposite sides of the same continuum. Here are Hildegard Knef’s English version of her German song “Ferienzeit” or “Holiday Time” from 1971 and Petula Clark’s German version of her English song “Downtown” recorded in 1964.
