Shonen Knife

What goes on in Japan? What do they eat for breakfast in Tokyo? Who presents the television news broadcast in Osaka? How is the view in Yokohama? I know people from Japan, I have eaten Japanese food and I have enjoyed their cultural output, but I have never visited the country itself. Instead I listen to The Plastics and Shonen Knife and imagine what wonders await me.

Here is the Shonen Knife debut cassette from 1982, entitled Minna Tanoshiku, digitized and zipped. This isn’t a scoop, unfortunately, I found the files searching the internet, so someone got there before me. However I just couldn’t pass up the chance to share this with a wider audience. The question now remains - how did they get a hold of Delta 5 and how amazing is their cover of You in track four Saboten?

Wow. Thanks for sharing this! I’m a Shonen Knife fan from years ago but this recording has always eluded me. Until now. So thanks again. It’s great to hear their earliest recordings, particularly “Miracles”, which is one of my favourites.
