Grylurnar (the Witches) was a four piece Icelandic band featuring Ragnhildur "Ragga" Gisladóttir on vocals, Inga Rún Pálmadóttir on guitar, Herdis Hallvardsdóttir on bass and Linda Björk Hreidarsdóttir on drums. They formed in 1981 and released one full-length LP, Mávastellid, produced by Louis Austen and released on the Reykjavík based Spor label in 1983. They disbanded soon thereafter.
Highlights from their short career included co-starring with the band Studmenn in the Icelandic musical comedy film Med allt á hreinu ("On Top") in 1982. The film subsequently broke all previous box office records with more than 100,000 viewers (nearly 50% of the total island population). They played several live shows in their home country, as documented in the 1982 film Rokk í Reykjavík, and even toured briefly in the United States with appearances in New York and Los Angeles in early 1983.
